The Sales in Action event – 9th December 2020

Organized on the 9th of December this year, the event called “Global Student Entrepreneurship Awards” organized by the Sales in Action Team will regroup students to try to reach a prize of $25 000. This event consists of a competition between students who own a business in order to support their efforts and give them the recognition they deserve.
We asked questions to members of the team:
What are your main tasks?
First, we have to get in touch with various universities in Finland in order to reach a higher number of participants. Meaning sending out e-mails to the principals, asking them to forward the e-mail to all of their students. We were in close contact with some of them and managed to get a few phone calls. On top of that, we promoted this event on social media, e.g. Instagram and LinkedIn.
Second, we were responsible of finding suitable and willing sponsors. This task was particularly complicated as there have not been any sponsors in the previous years. However, we managed to convince one of them – a company called “RediAi”, a financial technology company developing next generation value transfer solutions for consumers and businesses. They are supporting the judges as they know what it is like to be a start-up.
How do you want to lead this event during the COVID-19 situation?
The date of the 9th is fixed for sure! However, we would like to do the event onsite as it will create a more authentic and professional atmosphere. Depending on the situation in the beginning of December, it is to be discussed whether it will be held online or on-site.
How do you feel about this event?
This project requests a lot of time and complexity, for example to reach start-ups… However, it is a very rewarding project and we have gained a lot of experience along the way.
Have you been facing some challenges?
It was especially difficult to get responses from universities as well as companies. We had to be persistent and persuasive in order to reach our goal. Furthermore, COVID-19 has not been gentle on our preparations. Because of that, we were unable to provide our potential participants with the desired information as we did not have that sort of information ourselves.
Have you been working with some other teams?
Yes. We worked together with the research team as they had to deal with the same event – but just another part of it. We combined forces, creating benefits for both sides. (+ the social media team to raise more awareness of the event 😉)
This event promises to be exciting and very interesting. If you want to apply or have some more information about it, don’t hesitate to contact them.
You can apply until the 25th of November:
