Five Fellows - The Impact of Cultural Factors in Sales

Hei! Hello! Hola! Ciao!

In this week´s blog we are talking about cultural factors in sales. That is an important aspect of sales work. In the worst case, not understanding the cultural differences might lead to losing your sales partner in the international market. If you understand how different cultures work in meetings or negotiations, then you can be the elite of your sales team.

There is no common culture in the world and in the direction of globalization, the direction has been opposite. Cultural differences will increase rather than unify. Cultural development is expected to stick to a unified culture, and thus cooperation and intercultural understanding will be paramount.

Understanding the importance of culture in business is essential for international markets to succeed. The cultural context influences how a business should be conducted. Like any aspect of business, cultural understanding creates credibility, promotes goodwill, inspires the workforce, and helps companies create a better customer experience. Culture influences the way relationships are created and maintained, workforce selection, meetings, leadership, and teamwork. Understanding the cultural impact is directly reflected in the company´s results.

Values are at the heart of national culture. Because values take shape as early as childhood, they remain relatively stable and the same throughout life. A change in national values requires more generational change. However, symbols, heroes and rituals can change around us, leaving values intact. As values remain unchanged, cultural differences between countries remain relatively the same from century to century. Business cannot be separated from people, so it cannot be separated from their cultural environment either. Social interaction and thus also culture is part of business. Business is not only a commercial event but also a socio-economic event.
